AMPHL’s registry was inspired by Deaf Heritage’s 1981 Appendix of Known Deaf Persons with Earned Doctoral Degrees. The purpose of the AMPHL registry is twofold:

  1. AMPHL often gets inquiries about how many Deaf/hard-of-hearing individuals there are in certain healthcare fields. The registry allows us to give the most accurate numbers possible, especially to the media who often feature Deaf/hard-of-hearing medical professionals in articles and on the news.

  2. At some point, we hope to publish another list similar to what was presented in Deaf Heritage, but specific to medical professionals. Over the last 20 years since that Deaf Heritage list was published, many more Deaf/hard-of-hearing individuals have become medical professionals in a wider variety of healthcare fields.

This registry is only for Deaf and hard-of-hearing healthcare professionals. Please do not proceed if you have not received your professional degree yet.
